Insecurity: Katsina to buy N7.8bn equipment to combat banditry

The Katsina State Executive Council, in its bid to end the insecurity in the state, has approved the sum of N7.8 billion for the procurement of modern equipment for security agencies operating in the State.
The Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Dr. Nasiru Mu’azu Danmusa, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the outcomes of the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda.
According to Danmusa, N4.8 billion (N4,852,613,400) of the said amount would be used to purchase security vehicles for patrol operations, while N2.6 billion (N2,697,484,036.33) was earmarked for procuring hi-tech security equipment. The remaining sum of N353.3 million (N353,316,424.50) would be used to purchase some other security gadgets.
He also disclosed that the state executive council approved another N320 million for the procurement of security equipment for the newly introduced Community Security Watch Corps in the state. This, he said, is in addition to the N640 million approved earlier during its previous meeting.
